JLR North America recalling nearly 104,000 cars and SUVs from March

On Friday, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued notices to Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) for Brakes and Lighting problems in some of its vehicles, thereby prompting the company to announce the recall of nearly 104,000 cars and SUVs in North America.

On Wednesday, General Motors Corp announced that the company employees would get bonuses of up to $9,000 in 2015. The company has spent almost $3 billion in order to compensate accident victims and recall nearly 30 million vehicles.

The automaker reserved $400 million to compensate victims of faulty ignition switches that could cut off engine power and disable airbags in millions of its small cars.

The company also proposed financial incentives to consumers to bring recalled cars in for repairs.

According to Nissan's recent filing on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, nearly 552,135 Rogue sports utility vehicles (SUVs), from model years 2008 through 2013, will be recalled worldwide by the automaker due to fire risks.

During the course of an address at the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit on Tuesday, electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors’ CEO Elon Musk said that his company has plans underway to boost the production of electric cars over the next decade.

Revealing that Tesla had produced less than 40,000 electric cars in 2014, Musk said that the company plans to increase the production to "at least a few million a year" by 2025. Musk also said that Tesla is likely to reach profitability using generally accepted accounting principles by 2020.

Local Motors unveils first fully-functional 3D printed car

At the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Monday, Phoenix-based tech firm Local Motors the world's first fully-functional 3D printed car. The car is a two-seat vehicle made from carbon fiber-infused plastic. It is called 'Strati' which, in Italian, means 'layers.'

Unveiling the Strati 3D printed car at Detroit the auto show, Local Motors said that the 'production' process of the car involves the printing of its carbon fiber-infused plastic frames, exterior body and interior panels on a machine which can fit in a single-car garage.
