A quick look at Media Life “Weird Auburn”

The most recent iteration of the Media Life “Weird Auburn” talk took place before the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) on Thursday this week.

The term “Weird Auburn” prompts many to wonder why it is called so. It is actually an outcome of several other movements that have long been taking place in other communities. Austin in Texas, for instance, organizes a Keep Austin Weird T-shirts as well as a Keep Austin Weird Fest.

Those who ask why Auburn is called weird should keep in mind that the city has a world-class oddness. Its community has a past filled with colorful characters and unforgettable events. Moreover, its start was based on a rush for gold in 1848.

Moreover, the city’s is in a state of geographical limbo. It is roughly halfway between the Bay Area and Reno. It is neither in the mountains nor in the valley. Auburn life is in balance due to its lack of balance. Thus, oddness is in Auburn’s blood.

There are some giant concrete works of wonder. For example, the Dr. Kenneth Fox statues that are exemplified by the 42-foot-high concrete Amazon Archer and Amazon Warrior on Auburn Ravine Road. When these statues first were placed there in early 1970s, school children were diverted to keep them from viewing these statues.

Hence, there were a lot tales of Weird Auburn to spin at the latest iteration of the Media Life “Weird Auburn” talk before NARFE on Thursday.
