Travis Williams, Kodi Burns happy to coach Auburn guys
Travis Williams and Kodi Burns are happy to return to Auburn as full-time assistant coaches, particularly for being allowed to put their stamp on the players they now coach.
Williams and Burns, who once played for Auburn, are coaching the school’s current team. Williams is the linebackers’ coach, while Burns is the receivers’ coach.
Walking on the field for the start of the team’s spring practice, Williams remembered how defensive coordinator Kevin Steele allowed him to do his job, without any interference.
Sharing his experience, he said, “Coach Steele doesn’t bother me … We’ve had plenty of conversations and he tells me I’m doing a good job. My first day out there I’m like ‘wow, I’m the linebacker coach’. You almost have to pinch yourself. It’s almost surreal.”
Burns said he was very happy for being chosen to coach guys at a school where he once played. He called himself an Auburn guy and added that he was talking about a school because he played there. He stressed that he really believed from the heart, and he was very passionate about it.
During his playing days at the school, Williams was an All-SEC linebacker. Burns initiated as a quarterback but later changed positions to become a receiver.
