Police identify two people involved in downtown Portland stabbing incident

Portland police identified the suspect as well as the victim who was stabbed outside a Target store in downtown Portland earlier this week.
The victim was identified as 26-year-old Tiffany Buie, while the suspect was identified as 36-year-old Travis Dana Peterson. Police said both individuals were acquainted with each other.
The stabbing incident took place at SW 10th and Alder, just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday this week. A witness named Sarah Sutton described the incident saying, "Blood everywhere . All over the sidewalk, all over the other person, it was just really gruesome."
Peterson was arrested and booked on assault charges as well as an outstanding parole violation.
Buie, who was brutally stabbed, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of stabbing wounds. Later, she was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Another woman who was reportedly with Peterson also suffered some wounds. After being treated and released from the hospital, she was also detained. However, she was later released and not charged in connection with the incident. Investigators are of the view that she was wounded in the initial stabbing.
Police refused to disclose more information about the incident, citing ongoing investigation.
