Bellows to ‘walk’ the campaign

Shenna Bellows, who is a candidate in the upcoming elections and is aiming to unseat Republican Sen. Susan Collins, has said that she is planning to walk across Maine for campaigning.

Bellows will walk into Lewiston on 4 August, 2014 if her walk goes as per plan. She announced in a press conference on Friday to announce that she will walk across the state. She is planning to visit a total of 63 communities as she walks 350 miles. She said that she is planning to act as a voice for the working class.

LaMontagne died due to rare Flesh-eating bacteria

Investigators have said that a rare flesh-eating bacteria was the cause of death of teenager, Benjamin LaMontagne in Maine.

LaMontagne died in February after routine oral surgery for having his wisdom teeth removed. The report prepared by the state Medical Examiner's Office showed that the cause of death was cervical necrotizing fasciitis, which is avirulent infection that can also befatal.

The authorities in the state of Maine are working to improve the state's internet connectivity and are starting another round of investment.

The new round of investment will be partly funded by ConnectME Authority and the state is planning to grant $1 million to groups and Internet service providers that extend their services to unserved areas in the state. The expansion of the network is required as 35,000 households remain without broadband access, according to the authority's estimates.

Officials identify teen found dead in Lebanon

Police officials in the state of Maine have been able to identify a teen, who was found stabbed to death Saturday in Lebanon in the state.

The authorities released the name of a young New Hampshire man, who was found at the location on Saturday. The victim has been identified as 18years old Aaron Wilkinson from Madbury, New Hampshire, said New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster, Maine State Police Colonel Robert L. Quinn and Madbury Police Chief Joseph McGann.

Maine woman sentenced for forging cheques, stealing cash

A 39 year old woman from Union in the state of Maine has been sentenced to five years in jail for forging checks and stealing cash from the Brass Compass Cafe and Archer's restaurant.

Allen was sentenced in Knox County Superior Court by Justice Jeffrey Hjelm with five years in jail but all of her sentence was suspended for all but nine months. She is accused of performing the fraudulent activities from January 2013 and continuing through October 2013. Allen was also placed on probation for three years and ordered to pay $66,976 in restitution for her crimes.

More than one hundred races are participating in this year's Great Race, which assigns racers with a long task of traveling from Ogunquit, Maine, all the way to The Villages, Florida.

The racers and their navigators started the first leg of the race on Saturday, July 21. They will drive through a total of 10 states in nine days, covering a distance of 2,100 miles, to end the race on July 29.

The state of Maine is set to receive $1.25 million in federal funding to tackle homelessness across the state.

The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has said that it will award $1.25 million in funding for homeless assistance programs across the state. The funding is a part of the total $140million that was announced by the department during the previous week. The funding was divided among eight programs aiming to place people without homes in safe housing.
