Synthetic marijuana overdose leaves 33 sick in New York City

As many as 33 people were hospitalized owing to a possible overdose of K2, also known as synthetic marijuana. The mass drug overdose took place on a New York City street corner- Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Police said that 33 people were taken to hospitals with non life-threatening injuries. For now, it has been clear as to what resulted into this condition, but police said that some of the victims were smoking K2. It is being said that people in that area have gone out of control. They do not even mind sleeping on the streets there.

This week, the New York City health department reported an outbreak of chickenpox in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community of Brooklyn’s Williamsburg section.

The report suggested that 75 children have contracted the virus since March. Besides, 72% of the infected kids hadn’t been immunized. These children’s median age is 3, but the report has cited victims as old as 10.

Cuomo said that the new legislations are the key steps to build on the progress that they have already made. He mentioned the state has been enhancing the availability of tests and removing all the hindrances that have been stopping to end the epidemic.
