FDA expands use of best-selling pneumonia vaccine Prevnar 13

In a statement released on Tuesday, Pfizer Inc. revealed that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has extended the use of its best-selling pneumonia vaccine Prevnar 13.

The vaccine works as a safeguard against 13 strains of the streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria that cause pneumonia and other diseases. It has earlier been granted approval for usage by kids between 6 and 17 years old and grownups above 50 years old.

The latest approval has now permitted the vaccine usage in infants, young children and adults above 18 years old or older.

Researchers at Caltech recreate The Starry Night using DNA origami

Researchers at Caltech created replica of Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night painting, made through oil on canvas. But this recent reproduction is tiny in size and made using entirely different sources. Scientists have made the copy by using folded DNA. The process is called DNA origami.

EPIC once Again Captures Moon Crossing Earth's face

A NASA camera aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite records a glance of the moon moving in front of the sunlit side of Earth for the second time within a year.

Adam Szabo, DSCOVR project scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, said it is for the second time in DSCOVR’s life that the moon moved between the spacecraft and Earth. Szabo said the project captured the event on July 5 having the same cadence and spatial resolution like that of the first 'lunar photobomb' of previous year.

Incredible video of corals kissing, fighting Captured in ‘Wonder Microscope’

A new microscope has prepared an incredible video that shows corals kissing, growing and fighting amid reefs that look more like gorgeous marine gardens drifting in a breeze. The wonder microscope has the capability to work under up to 100 feet of water, showing these mysterious creatures in a whole new light and capturing tiny objects at high resolution despite the distortion of the sea.

Why Jet Lag Recovery takes Longer When One Flies to East

Researchers of a study published on July 12 in the journal Chaos suggests why it is relatively more difficult to recover from jet lag when you fly to east. They have studied responses of certain brain cells toward different time zones. These cells are neuronal oscillator cells that regulate biological clock.
