Former Augusta officer pleads guilty to fatal shooting charge

A dashcam video showing former North Augusta police officer Justin Craven’s involvement in a February 2014 fatal shooting was released on Monday, after the officer pleaded guilty to the charge of misconduct in office.

Craven, a 27-year-old father of a 4-month-old child, refused to opt for a jury trial and pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge in the Edgefield County Courthouse. He faced 1 year in prison, up to $1,000 in fine. Another charge of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle could result in a prison term of up to 10 years along with a fine of up to $1,000, or both.

Pasco County Sheriff’s Office to investigate Maine woman’s death

The investigation into the death of a Maine woman, who was found dead near a highway in Florida last Thursday night, has been referred to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Jennifer Scammon of Saco, the victim’s sister, revealed on Sunday that the remains of Judith Therianos were discovered last Thursday near U.S. Highway 19 in Port Richey, Florida.

Police notified the family the following day but could not determine the cause and manner of the 52-year-old woman’s death. The case remains under investigation by the county’s medical examiner’s office.

Parents of students at a public high school in New Hampshire are grumbling that they were left in the dark for several weeks about the arrest of the dean of students for heroin and steroids possession.

Rekha Luther, former dean of students at Pembroke Academy was arrested in February and charged with multiple felony counts of possession of heroin and steroids. The 36-year-old former dean resigned from the position in March.

Three people were detained on Monday after a shooting in the drive-thru of a Northeast Portland McDonald’s restaurant left two people wounded, police confirmed.

Sgt. Greg Stewart, a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department, said that officers responded to the area of Northeast 108th Avenue and Weidler Street at around 5:20 p.m. Gang Enforcement Team members also arrived to investigate the shooting.

The driver charged with fatally hitting two Auburn students with his pickup truck on Sunday was also responsible for an earlier crash, investigators said.

Jared Gaches and Trevor Keller, both 15 years old students at Placer High School in Auburn were killed Sunday evening when the driver, identified as 62-year-old Philip Ingram, ran them down with his pickup truck.

Gaches, a resident of Auburn, and Trevor Keller, a resident of Foresthill, were walking along Highway 49 near Locksley Lane with another boy who was luckily not hurt in the crash.

After being arrested and booked on a DUII charge late Saturday night, former U.S. Women’s National Team star Abby Wambach has taken full responsibility for her actions.

Portland police confirmed that Wambach was pulled over in her 2014 Range Rover at around 11:05 p.m. last Saturday after she failed to stop at a red light at Southwest 13th Avenue and Taylor Street in the downtown area of the city.
