Drug fatalities continues to rise in Maine

According to the latest figures released, the deaths relating to drug overdoses and related abuse rose to 176 people in Maine in 2013.

This is the third time in the previous fifteen years that the drug-related deaths have risen above 170. The data released by the Maine Attorney General's office on Monday showed that there were 13 more drug-induced deaths in Maine in the previous year compared to the 2012. Out of the total 176 deaths, 105 were attributable to prescription opiates and 34 were caused by heroin.
